And yet…

Cantor Fitzgerald, the financial firm formerly led by current Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, actively sought to purchase tariff refund rights from companies in 2025. While Lutnick himself stepped down as chairman and divested his ownership into trusts for his children before taking office, the firm is now run by his sons, Brandon and Kyle Lutnick.
