Fascist police atop this administration

Bovino Is Said to Have Mocked Prosecutor’s Jewish Faith on Call With Lawyers Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol field leader, made disparaging remarks in reference to the U.S. attorney in Minnesota, an Orthodox Jew, people with knowledge of the phone call said. A day before six career federal prosecutors  resigned in protest  over the Justice Department’s handling of the killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis, lawyers in the office had a conversation with Gregory Bovino, the Border Patrol field leader, that left them deeply unsettled. According to several people with knowledge of the telephone conversation, which took place on Jan. 12, Mr. Bovino made derisive remarks about the faith of the U.S. attorney in Minnesota, Daniel N. Rosen. Mr. Rosen is an Orthodox Jew and observes Shabbat, a period of rest between Friday and Saturday nights that often includes refraining from using electronic devices. Mr. Bovino, who has been the face of the Trump administration’s immigration c...

U.S. Trade Deficit Bounces Back as Tariffs Cause Volatility The monthly trade deficit and imports rebounded in November after shrinking significantly in prior months, new data show. The U.S. trade deficit in goods and services rebounded to $56.8 billion in November, rising 95 percent from the previous month as President Trump’s tariffs reordered trade, according to data from the Commerce Department released on Thursday. Exports fell 3.6 percent in the month, to $292.1 billion. Imports rose 5 percent in November, to $348.9 billion. The combination pushed up the monthly trade deficit, the gap between what the United States imports and what it exports. The data reflected some of the intense volatility that has resulted from the president’s trade policy, which has imposed steep taxes on imports. The trade deficit had fallen in prior months, seemingly accomplishing a major goal for Mr. Trump, who views that metric as a sign of economic weakness. The October trade deficit  was the...

Purely sick and twisted

After Donations, Trump Administration Revoked Rule Requiring More Nursing Home Staff Executives who donated to the president’s super PAC met privately with him and urged a repeal of the rule, which was intended to prevent neglect of patients. The nursing home industry was on a roll last summer. It had just won a 10-year moratorium on a rule initiated during President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s administration to require increased staffing levels in an effort to reduce neglect among residents, which had led to injuries and deadly infections. Nonetheless, some in the industry, warning that the rule would have substantially increased costs, wanted to make it go away permanently. So nursing home executives turned to a tool that has proved successful in getting President Trump’s attention: money. Starting in early August, the industry began making donations that over the course of weeks would eventually total nearly $4.8 million to MAGA Inc., a super PAC devoted to Mr. Trump and run by his allies...

This isn’t about immigration

Texas has 2.1M undocumented immigrants and Florida has 1.2M. Minnesota has 130,000. Don't let anyone tell you this is about immigration. It never was. ___ Bondi outlines terms for Walz to ‘restore the rule of law’ in Minnesota after fatal shooting: Reports “ In the letter, Bondi pressed Walz to hand over information about the state’s welfare programs amid mounting scrutiny over  a massive fraud scandal , and she asked that he get rid of immigration sanctuary policies and let the Department of Justice see voter rolls “to confirm that Minnesota’s voter registration practices comply with federal law.” The Attorney General is trying extort voting rolls from Minnesota.  The Trump Administration is the moral swamp.

Craig’s false narrative: Trump gets the need to lower grocery costs

Trump doesn’t give a fuck Grocery prices in early 2026 remain significantly high, with data showing a 2.4% year-over-year increase in December 2025 and a 0.7% jump in that month alone, marking the fastest monthly rise in over three years Food-at-home costs have risen nearly 30% since 2020 due to supply chain issues, labor costs, and avian flu affecting specific items.

Giants like Tyson Foods, General Motors, and FedEx are collectively eliminating thousands of roles, marking the start of a deep restructuring.  With 1.17 million layoffs recorded in 2025—the highest since 2020—momentum is only intensifying. Marshal poked his nose out from his cultic coven

While he may be still nearby, let’s ask this child who thinks he’s a  christian AND smart, a question: Marshal, let’s have a discussion brought down to your level where all you have to do is answer “yes” or “no” four times. Four, that is if you keep giving the christian answer. 1. Are God’s attributes - brought down to the level of human language as best as we can understand - eternal? Yes or no? Simple answers work; no tricks here. Even helicopter engineers know the answer.

‘Enough Is Enough’: Hundreds of Minnesota Businesses Take Stand Against ICE

After protesters called for a pause on economic activity and work to strike against the federal immigration crackdown, many business owners won’t open their doors on Friday. No work, no shopping, no dining out. Hundreds of businesses across Minnesota were expected to close and many people vowed to pause everyday activities on Friday as part of a general strike against the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. As tensions mount and a sense of fear of detention by immigration agents permeates the state, vendors, labor unions and residents said they would participate in an economic blackout and gather at prayers and protests on what organizers called a “Day of Truth and Freedom.” “It’s tense and emotional, and folks are hurting,” said Bishop Dwayne Royster, the executive director of Faith in Action, which is helping with the organizing effort. Minnesotans, he said, are demonstrating “deep resilience and willingness to stand together in ways I haven’t seen folks do in a very long t...

White House Posts Altered Photo Showing Arrested Minnesota Protester Crying

The New York Times ran the image posted by Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, as well as the one posted by the White House through an A.I. detection system. It concluded that the White House’s version showed signs of manipulation. Charles Blow: “As I wrote for the @bittersoutherner:  ‘The moment is eerily reminiscent of the Jim Crow era, when families picnicked in the shadow of lynchings and purchased commemorative postcards featuring the gruesome deeds. We have not returned to that depth of violence, to be sure. What we have now is less severe, but today’s ruthlessness stokes more widespread hostility than any hangman could have dreamed. “There is a deliberate conspicuousness to ICE’s inhumanity. Cruelty is being performed. It is pageantry, and intentionally so. Terror craves notoriety. Indeed, it depends upon it. It must ripple. It must be vicariously experienced. That is the amplification dependency of it.’”

Trump has cut the Bill of Rights from 10 to 9. By himself.

Craig has problems with my post

Image
Craig thinks there is no scriptural basis to claim this.  Craig remains willfully ignorant of the Jesus in the Gospels, even on the cross, and even in the face of the power of death. Odd for a bible idolator. Well, exceedingly common actually. Let Craig count the times Jesus  opposed the Jewish authorities of the  Pharisees  and  scribes  in  clashes over Sabbath observance. - by healing - by handwashing - by picking grain - by eating with sinners - by neglecting to fast Let Craig count the times Jesus claims divine authority (blasphemy) Jesus overthrew the merchants and money changers in the temple and whipped them with cords. Jesus refused to answer to the High Priest, Caiaphas, and the Sanhedrin regarding the accusations. But he did affirm that he was the Messiah, a blasphemous offense. Jesus refused to answer the ruling Roman governor, Pilate. Jesus refused to come down off of the cross when asked and easily could have done so. And Jesus sho...

from Letter from a Birmingham Jail

“ We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was "legal" and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary was "illegal." It was "illegal" to aid and comfort a Jew in Hitler's Germany. Even so, I am sure that, had I lived in Germany at the time, I would have aided and comforted my Jewish brothers. If today I lived in a Communist country where certain principles dear to the Christian faith are suppressed, I would openly advocate disobeying that country's antireligious laws. I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to just...

I haven’t deleted anything Jesse has written on my blog. He still went into hiding. Can’t face my questions.

He’s not defending Christian faith. He’s too weak to be of faith. He’s defending White American primitivism. A secular homegrown ideology AKA radical Protestantism.

“I am just going to say the quiet part out loud. Many of you in the comments of my last post have said I was never taught the gospel properly, or that I must have been misinformed. The truth is you taught me too well. Some of you are genuinely upset with me because, as a white, straight, cisgender man, I refuse to support the current administration and I dare to speak out against injustice, authoritarianism, and the way conservatism and Christianity have been fused into something unrecognizable. You are even more upset that I walked away from my career as a pastor and from the version of faith I was handed. What seems to confuse people the most is that I do not look like the caricature you expect. I am an outdoorsy, flannel shirt wearing kind of guy. I look like I would chop some wood with you or go fishing with you. I fit the visual. I just do not fit the script. I came from your world. I lived in it for years. I preached from its pulpits. I went to Bible college. I led churches. I bu...

Against Bible idolatry

As if the Holy Spirit - the living God, the third person of the Trinity - can be confined between imitation leather covers. “Such is the confidence we have through Christ in facing God; it is not that we are so competent that we can claim any credit for ourselves; all our competence comes from God. He has given us the competence to be ministers of a new covenant, a covenant which is not of written letters, but of the Spirit; for the written letters kill, but the Spirit gives life… With a hope like this, we can speak with complete fearlessness… Now this Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with our unveiled faces like mirrors reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the image that we reflect in brighter and brighter glory; this is the working of the Lord who is the Spirit.”

Greenland (this one is for Stan’s escapist love of the ironic over taking a moral stance)

1. Trump says “we cannot have Russia or China as a neighbor.” So, he’s selling Alaska. 2. Trump says “just because someone landed a boat 500 years ago doesn’t mean the land is theirs.” So, he’s deporting everyone who isn’t Native American. ___ [btw Stan, always on Saturdays, uses irony to escape taking a moral stand for compassion and political policies of compassion because of the eternal contradictions of aligning with non-perfect groups. As if we as Christians or as a particular denomination aren't already comprised.  "Give to Caeser what is Caeser's" - presumably so society can benefit at least somewhat.]

No help for Americans

Trump Cuts $2 Billion in Federal Funding for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Notices went out late Tuesday to more than 2,000 programs nationwide that will be affected by budget slashing at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Its effects occur at the cellular and neurochemical level

It is possible to become addicted to power — particularly for certain character structures. Individuals with pronounced narcissistic, paranoid or psychopathic tendencies are especially vulnerable. For them, power does not merely enable action; it regulates inner states that would otherwise feel unmanageable.   Donald Trump is an extreme illustration of this dynamic. From a psychoanalytic perspective, his narcissism is malignant in the sense that it is organized around a profound inner emptiness.   Malignant narcissism is a combination of narcissism and psychopathology. Because there is little internal capacity for self-soothing or self-valuation, he requires continuous external affirmation to feel real and intact. Power supplies that affirmation. Visibility, dominance and constant stimulation temporarily fill the void.   https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/13/opinion/trump-presidential-power-addiction.html

Fascism has overtaken our policing for the first time since Jim Crow

Image
For the last decade there’s been a debate, among people who don’t like Donald Trump, about whether he’s a fascist. The argument that he isn’t often hinges on two things. First, when Trump first came to power, he lacked a street-fighting force like Benito Mussolini’s Blackshirts, even if he was able to muster a violent rabble on Jan. 6. “Trump didn’t proceed to unleash an army of paramilitary supporters in an American Kristallnacht or take dramatic action to remake the American state in his image,” wrote the leftists Daniel Bessner and Ben Burgis in “Did It Happen Here?,” a 2024 anthology examining the fascism question. Second, Trump didn’t pursue campaigns of imperial expansion, which some scholars view as intrinsic to fascism. “For all of Trump’s hostility towards countries he perceives as enemies of the U.S., notably Iran, there is no indication that he sought a war with any foreign power, still less that he has been consumed by a desire for foreign conquest and the creation of...

In Secret Testimony, Republicans Derided Trump’s Stolen Election Claims

The testimony, part of the derailed Georgia election interference case, makes clear how dismissive some senior Republicans were of claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina found President Trump’s claims of election fraud in 2020 “unnerving.” Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia described Mr. Trump’s efforts to get his state’s lawmakers to intervene a “fruitless exercise.” David Ralston, a former speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, called the plan to create slates of fake pro-Trump electors in states he had lost “the craziest thing I’ve heard.” Transcripts of secret grand jury testimony from the Georgia election interference case against Mr. Trump and his allies, obtained this week by The New York Times, show just how alarmed and exasperated a number of senior Republicans felt about the president’s efforts to overturn an American presidential election

War Crime

Even accepting the Trump administration’s claim that there is an armed conflict with suspected drug runners, the laws of war bar “perfidy.” The Pentagon used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first attack on a boat that the Trump administration said was smuggling drugs, killing 11 people last September, according to officials briefed on the matter. The aircraft also carried its munitions inside the fuselage, rather than visibly under its wings, they said. The nonmilitary appearance is significant, according to legal specialists, because the administration has argued its lethal boat attacks are lawful — not murders — because   President Trump “determined” the United States is in an armed conflict with drug cartels . But the laws of armed conflict prohibit combatants from feigning civilian status to fool adversaries into dropping their guard, then attacking and killing them. That is a war crime called “perfidy.”

Jesse and Glenn, the anti-Catholic warriors of the 21st Century. Pathetic

Especially since they can only do it in a room alone with their gadget. They can’t face opposition. But they do get a thrill from a vestige of Protestant vs Catholic animus. 30 million Christians died in the European religious wars. And Glenn and Jesse still bear doctrinal grudge. Unbelievable.  They’re like young Incels dreaming of being marauding Vikings.  They’re the players of bad faith. ___ Jesse took flight from answering the question that cripples his brutalizing need to characterize God’s eternal Justice as explicitly retributive in nature: Is there eternal wrongdoing in heaven? If he says, yes, then God’s retributive justice is imperfect. Which kills his God. If, no, then the eternal God’s eternal character of Justice… passed away. Which kills his theology.

American Violence Is Pushing Families to Think About Leaving

The one group in the United States most interested in leaving the country and permanently living somewhere else is American women ages 15 to 44. According   to Gallup , 40 percent of women polled in my age bracket expressed this desire, double the rate of all U.S. adults. That tells me that the women who are building their lives and the lives of the next generation are looking for the exit. Women in other, similar nations do not share this desire to relocate. In November, I asked readers who were considering moving what was driving them out. While the responses were varied (the rollback of rights for women, immigrants and L.G.B.T.Q.+ people was mentioned by several), the most common reason cited was gun violence in the United States. Whether at the hands of fellow citizens or militarized law enforcement officers, this particular form of violence and its unremitting nature is just not a significant problem in our peer nations. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/10/opinion/leaving-ameri...
