The government that loves to hurt it’s people

According to recent reports, budget rules imposed by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem have been cited as a factor in slowing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)'s initial response to the deadly Texas floods.

More specifically, a policy implemented by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem required her approval for every purchase, contract, and grant exceeding $100,000. Current and former FEMA employees, who spoke anonymously, stated that this significantly delayed the deployment of critical resources, including tactical and specialized search and rescue teams, during the early stages of the disaster response.

According to reports, these teams were not authorized until 72 hours after the initial flooding occurred. Some critics, including Senator Jared Moskowitz, argue that this $100,000 threshold is impractical in the context of disaster operations and effectively stripped FEMA of its ability to act in real-time.
